Philosophy - Our philosophy is predicated on the development of each player as a student athlete and teammate. We will compete to the best of our ability, but our focus is never on winning championships at this level as winning is a byproduct of hard work and team development. Our coaching staff will focus on helping each player grow and learn to be the best competitor and teammate they can be. *We have chosen a model that implements more practice time than most youth teams and then application on game weekends as opposed to little practice time and games during the week.
Player Expectations -
Each player is expected to exemplify a coachable and team first attitude at all times.
Each player is expected to give their best effort at all times.
Each player is expected to be at all practices and games. *Exceptions to this expectation would be for illness, family emergencies, religious and lifetime family events.
Each player is expected to be on time for practices and games. This means ready to go with arms warm at the start of practice.
Players are expected to make their SW team a priority. This means not committing to another team during the season. Coaches can’t help the players and the team grow if players aren’t attending practices.
Parent Expectations -
Parents are expected to be supportive of all players and coaches at all times.
The parents role is to encourage and cheer on the team.
Parents are expected to refrain from coaching their child during all practices and games. Parents are responsible for other relatives and friends they may invite to games as well.
Players will be expected to play the positions they are assigned with a team first attitude.
If a player is interested in playing a certain position they need to speak with their coach who will give them specific feedback on what they need to do in order to earn that opportunity.
Some players on the 10U team will play a variety of positions as we learn their strengths and expose them to different scenarios. As the season progresses we will dial in a couple of primary positions for each player. The 12U team will most likely have a couple positions their coaches have them play consistently
